This piece was inspired by my dad and the way I experience spirituality because of him. The first time I told him I struggled with God and the bigotry I witnessed in organized religion, he didn’t deny any of it. He met my fears with unconditional love and honesty, then infused my life with diverse forms of spirituality: books on past lives, A Course in Miracles, indigenous teachings, mindfulness, ho’oponopono, yoga, etc. All of which built my confidence to hear “God” through nature, my ancestors, and as my own intuition.
